We're back from our visit to Berlin, with a mini-mix and memories of I Love Techno in Ghent. While in Berlin we took our drinking to the streets with our friends The Operator & Emmett. Later in the week we did some clubbing @ The Watergate, a minimal club with a riverside view, John Selway was playing, he's always on point. The next day we were off to Brussels for I Love Techno. Justice stole the show with which may have been their first live set, god I hope it was recorded. But we managed to catch Klaxons, Goose, Simian Mobile Disco, Trentmoller, Stephan Bodzin, Alter Ego, & holy fuck Erol Alken! He played before Justice & totally destroyed the dancefloor again & again with things like his intro which was a fresh take on Micheal Jackon's Thriller I believe. He also played Brodinksi's remix of The Shoes which is included in this mini-mix we dropped at a Ping Pong club in East Berlin called Dr.Pong.
Got some shows confirmed that I'm excited about, little party for some peeps that have a birthday around now @ Soda. this Thursday. A Old Scotsmen Ball this Saturday, and In Order To Danse has just been confirmed for New Years Eve @ The Ship & Anchor.
Enjoy the mix

Bring the Noize!!!
Calgary is getting a sweet sweet dose of some killer acts from overseas this month. I'm getting super excited because we really don't get to see things this cool very often. In addition to the Boys Noize visit we also get to check out the ParisTerrorClub tour this Saturday at The Hifi Club as well. All this wicked music is a nice warmup to November because I'll actually be able to attend I Love Techno this year. It'll be my first time off this rock we call North America so I'm kind of in a tizzy about it...
Enough chatter lets get to some music, they're both kind of old in blog world but with Boys Noize's new album "Oi Oi Oi" set for release this month these tracks should give you the incentive to go track it down.

In Memory Of....
This is a mix I did during that early electro-clash revival whatever period that took place a few years ago. Now electro is changing again and getting better than ever in my opinion but I still love all these sounds. Here's the mix in case you missed it the first time around on cd. Damian makes a sexy cover, no?

Music1st brings you...
It's Stampede time here in Calgary once again and we here at music1st feel that a massive shaker is in order to complement the occasion. We've assembled a line-up to be reckoned with that is as exciting as it is diverse. Bringing together electro, Hip Hop, Breaks, techno, and all things that say "danse" in one room as well as a room dedicated to Calgary's thriving rock scene. Here it is...
Dj Spilt Milk
Arlen
Mama Miche
In Order To Danse
Lovesinger
Jain Vain & The Dark Matter
Noah York City
Wax Romeo
Emmett
You can get tickets @ www.ticketweb.ca
So enough of this info stuff, let's get to some music.
Spilt Milk has been a staple in Western Canada's dance scene for more than a decade. Besides being a wicked dj he's also a really nice guy, so nice in fact that he offers the world a wide selection of mixes by him dating back all the way to 1997.
You can go hear for yourself at djspiltmilk.ca but here's a link to Side A of his Original Mixtape Gangsta mix, his most recent.
Original Mixtape Gangsta Side A
I'd suggest going to Jain Vain & The Dark Matter's Myspace to hear their seriously refreshing sound as well.
See you all soon, I'll leave you with a song that has become something of a anthem for this event.
D.A.N.C.E. (Justice Remix)

Keep it coming...
Sorry no posts in about a month, but this should get things going for the summer/festival season. My man Arlen is out from Montreal to join us in welcoming Swayzak from Britain this Tuesday. We got Boombox coming up on July 7th next Saturday as well as a visit from Tipper August 3rd.
We've loved Swayzak's music since "I Dance Alone" so it'll be exciting to hear what's new from them. In Order To Danse will be supporting Noah York & Arlen opening the night up, so if you're in Calgary this week come down to the Hifi and join us for a Boozy Tuesday party.
Here's a tune that some of you might remember from that electro-clash period around 2002...
